Pupil exclusions can be one of the most difficult, stressful and potentially risky decisions for a school to take. They are on the rise and happening against a backdrop of increasingly well-informed and litigious parents. To support schools, Farrer & Co have updated their detailed guidance for independent schools on managing the exclusions process.

This webinar focuses on the Stage 3 Appeal process, where Governors will play a central and crucial role.

In this webinar experts from Farrer & Co will:

  • Set the scene and draw out the key points around exclusions
  • Bring the issue to life with video footage from a “real life” Stage 3 appeal panel – highlighting some common pitfalls!
  • Discuss the appeal panel and provide some practical guidance for Governors
  • Summarise legal and regulatory risks around exclusions
  • There will also be an opportunity for Q&A

Much of the session will apply equally to parental complaints too, so it promises to be a very practical, valuable and lively session!

Veryan Exelby, a Senior Counsel within the Safeguarding Unit at Farrer & Co, Katie Fudakowski, Partner and Sophia Coles, Senior Associate will explain the essential aspects that you need to know and you will have the opportunity to ask questions to keep your school compliant.  You can find out more about our Farrer & Co colleagues here: Veryan Exelby | Solicitor | Safeguarding (farrer.co.uk)  Katie Fudakowski l Solicitor | Employment (farrer.co.uk)  Sophia Coles | Solicitor | Employment (farrer.co.uk)
