Key strategic issues Governors need to be aware of (seminar)
This seminar in association with Stone King will provide a legal update. The morning will focus on change in emphasis and further proposed developments in the independent inspection regime, and the changes in safeguarding governance from 1 September under the updated version of KCSIE. It will look at the wider emphasis on the safeguarding culture, the expectations around identifying and monitoring trends and discussing some of the lessons coming out of recent casework.
The afternoon session will explore strategy and efficiencies: in the context of an affordability agenda, many schools are reviewing their strategic options in the short, medium and longer term, and the Stone King team has experience in advising across a range of strategic options flowing from those discussions which include: independent school and cross sector collaborations including mergers and the collaboration with Eton and Star academies (to reflect some themes and lessons learned from the significant merger activity in the sector), developing an educational services offering; international opportunities; income generation/cost saving strategies, funding streams, including private placements, material change processes e.g. to co-educational/boarding, extended age range; and restructures.
